01The short version

This website sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for “functionality”. That is also why you were not shown a cookie banner.

One thing can be stored on your device, and only if you ask for it: your choice to switch analytics off, in section 4. Nothing else on this site reads or writes anything to your browser storage.

02What cookies are, and why we do not need them

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise you on a later visit. Related technologies — local storage, session storage, and tracking pixels — do much the same job by other means.

Most business websites need cookies because they have logins, shopping baskets, or advertising to attribute. This site has none of those. It is a static set of pages with contact forms, so there is nothing about you worth remembering between visits, and we decided not to remember anything.

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the EU ePrivacy Directive, consent is required to store information on your device or read information already stored there. We do neither, so no consent is required and no banner is shown. That is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight.

03What we use instead

Google Analytics 4, without cookies

Our analytics tag is configured with client_storage: 'none'. That setting stops Google Analytics writing its usual _ga cookie or storing any client identifier on your device. Every page view is counted on its own, with nothing tying one of your visits to the next.

The trade-off is real and it is ours to accept: we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one. We think that is a fair price for not having to ask you about cookies.

Analytics still transmits your IP address and browser details to Google in order to work at all. That is processing of personal data even though no cookie is involved, so it is covered in our Privacy Policy, and you can switch it off below.

Cloudflare Turnstile, on the careers form only

The job application form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells humans from bots. It loads only on the careers page and on no other page.

Cloudflare processes your IP address, TLS fingerprint, user-agent header, and our site key in order to run the check. We have not enabled Turnstile’s “pre-clearance” feature, which is the option that would issue a cf_clearance cookie, so no cookie is set.

Even if it did set one, a challenge that protects a form from abuse is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, and is exempt from the consent requirement. We mention it here because you should be told what runs on the page, not because it needs your permission.

Fonts, maps, and embeds

Our typefaces are downloaded at build time and served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts a font provider. There are no third-party embeds on this site — no video players, no map iframes, no social widgets, no chat bubbles, and no advertising or retargeting pixels of any kind.

04Turning analytics off

Use this switch to stop this browser sending any analytics at all. It takes effect immediately and applies to every page on this site.

Switching analytics off stores a single value in your browser’s local storage recording that preference. That is the only thing this website ever writes to your device, it contains no identifier, and it is never transmitted to us or to Google. Clearing your browser data will erase it, and analytics will be on again next time.

You do not have to rely on us: browser tracking protection, an ad blocker, or a “do not track” extension will block the analytics request just as effectively, and we do not try to work around any of them.

05If this changes

If we ever add something that does set a cookie — a live chat widget, an embedded map, or advertising — we will update this page before it goes live and, where consent is required, ask you for it properly rather than assuming it.
